Martino
Proof of Value Prototype
The approach
Partnered with a reinsurance broker start-up serving cedents and collaborating with reinsurers. This 8-week engagement had two core objectives:
- To explore and validate agile architecture, digital, and data strategies.
- To prototype a digital experience platform (DXP) and a happy path placement journey that would guide future MVP decisions.
During this engagement, I focused on answering a series of critical questions:
1. Can a no-code/low-code platform deliver the required user experience?
2. How viable is the proposed plug-and-play architecture?
3. What alternative strategies could support a compelling digital experience?
4. Which key user journey and solutions should be prioritised and validated to help Martino deliver a differentiated experience from day one — without jeopardising the go-live timeline?

Co-creation
Through regular sessions and workshops with stakeholders and business leaders, we fostered diverse ideas and ensured shared ownership of outcomes. These sessions provided deep insight into Martino’s target business model and the capabilities needed to support it.
We explored architecture design, UX principles, and personas, mapping the end-to-end user journey from the perspectives of cedents, brokers, and reinsurers. We also developed high-level user stories. Stakeholders asked us to focus on the cedent experience – assessing both what a no-code/low-code platform offers out of the box, and what additional low-code effort would be needed to tailor UI components and deliver the desired experience.
Delivered a comprehensive architecture plan aligned to the client's strategic goals. This included:
- An architecture vision aligned with the business vision.
- A conceptual architecture, alongside assessments of digital channel and CRM technologies.
- Technology, cloud, and data architectures designed in alignment with future security requirements.
- A high-level architecture roadmap to support implementation and future decision-making.
As Martino didn’t yet have an established brand look and feel or guidelines/design system, we created a series of exploratory UI concepts to bring the story to life. These wireframes helped visualise the platform and enabled stakeholder validation across the business. Insights from stakeholder knowledge and our own research ensured that designs aligned with users’ specific needs and expectations. These insights informed ourMVP planning.
Both a high-fidelity Figma prototype and a live click-through demo, built using no-code/low-code technology, were presented and handed over to the client with next steps documentation to tackle the overall future project.
This engagement laid a strong foundation for Martino’s digital transformation and clarified strategic decisions around platform architecture and user experience.
